About Us

The Conservative Party is a large and complex organisation, representing and involving people with a diverse range of backgrounds, interests and concerns.  It is a broad church, which encourages open debate and accepts differences of opinion.

What unites the Party are the core Conservative principals which provide our foundation.

Freedom
Conservatives believe in less interference from the State - freedom for individuals, families, voluntary groups and businesses.

Enterprise
Conservatives want to keep taxes low and set businesses free from red tape to help Britain compete in the global economy.

Responsibility
Conservatives stand for the rule of law and support for all members of our society.  We recognise our duty to protect the environment for future generations.

Nation
Conservatives want to safeguard the Union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, maintain strong defence and uphold our right to national self-government.  We want to be in Europe but not run by Europe.

The Conservatives in Newton Abbot

Newton Abbot Conservative Association covers the parliamentary constituency of Newton Abbot which was created for the 2010 General Election and consists of the Teignbridge District Council wards of  Ambrook, Bishopsteignton, Bradley, Buckland and Milber, Bushell, College, Dawlish Central and North East, Dawlish South West, Ipplepen, Kenton with Starcross, Kerswell-with-Combe, Kingsteignton East, Kingsteignton West, Shaldon and Stokeinteignhead, Teignmouth Central, Teignmouth East and Teignmouth West.

At local level we have several strong local branches across our towns and villages who campaign on local issues and run events. There are Conservative representatives on our local town and parish councils, Teignbridge District Council and Devon County Council and in May 2010 the voters of Newton Abbot, elected a Conservative MP, Anne Marie Morris.

In addition to contesting elections we hold good social events, an opportunity to mix with likeminded people, and the chance to talk to Conservative frontbenchers on a regular basis.

Whatever your level of political involvement, new members are always welcome. To get involved, see the Membership page.
